HPCO2

The application of High Pressure CO2 as a means of moving material was originally developed for mining and excavation purposes. It is now an established technique that is used worldwide in a variety of industrial settings. The HPCO2 equipment used by KRR ProStream is supplied by our partners BANG&CLEAN TECHNOLOGIES AG. The principles of operation are essentially no different to the original Cardox design, but are focused on power and process plant applications.

KRR HPCO2 is ideal for removing blockages and unwanted deposits in hoppers, silos and ash pits. It is quick to deploy and is effective on a range of materials including ash, lime, FGT/APC residues, biofuel residues and large items of combustible material. A hole is drilled in the deposit and a tube filled with liquid CO2 is inserted and fastened. An electric charge reacts with the heater element in the tube, turning the liquid into gas and increasing its volume by 600 times. This happens in seconds, creating a powerful heaving force at pressures up to 40,000 psi (3,000 bar) and safely dislodging the blockages or deposits with no explosions or damage to infrastructure.
